Evansville Libraries Receive Five-Star Rating
Earlier last week, the Evansville Public Libraries learned that it was awarded a five-star rating in the recent Library Journal Index of Public Library Service – an honor that only 1.1 percent of all the public libraries in the nation receive.
The Library Journal Index compares libraries all across the nation and rates them according to how they fare against their peers in regards to circulation, visits, program attendance and public Internet usage.
Miranda Knight, spokesperson for the Evansville Public Libraries says the news of the five-star rating was a shock, especially since the library has received a four-star rating two-years in a row since 2010.
However, Knight says that the library’s close attention to what the public wants is what sets them apart from some of the others. “We definitely always look for ways to redefine our services,” she said. “We look at different databases and electronic resources that we can offer.”
