The Evansville Civic Theatre will be hosting auditions for their production of Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein on Tuesday, June 20th and on Friday, June 23rd. Here is the official synopsis of the show:

From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation, The Producers, comes this monster new musical comedy. The comedy genius, Mel Brooks, adapts his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation – Young Frankenstein!

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

If you are wondering what is expected at the auditions, the official Facebook event page states the following:

-Actors will be asked to come prepared with a selection of music that showcases your range, no longer than 32 measures, or 1 minute in length. Accompaniment will be provided by our Music Director, so you may bring your own sheet music. A means of playing from a cd or mp3 will also be available to you.

-Each night, those auditioning will be required to learn a short dance number with our choreographer. Please dress comfortably and accordingly! This will be the same number worked on during the Monday Tap Workshop

-Auditions will also consist of cold reads from the script.

The Evansville Civic Theatre will also be hosting a Tap Dance Workshop on Monday, June 19th as a refresher for those who haven't tapped in a while, since there is a large tap dance number in the show.
