Big things are coming to Evansville this weekend! The fourth annual MayDay Film Festival is returning to USI Saturday May 5th and will feature FREE admission to the film screenings, free popcorn, & door prizes, along with a screenwriting workshop presented by the Emmy Award winning writer of the original Friday the 13th screenplay, Victor Miller.

You'll be able to expect about 8 hours of independent films, music videos, and web series selections. There will be a free catered lunch for those in attendance, as well as a concession stand. Door prizes will be given away between screenings and will include gift cards, merchandise donated by local businesses, and merchandise from the May Day Film Festival. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase DVDs from the filmmakers as well.

“Our goal is to show everyone how entertaining independent film can be, not just the people already interested in movies,” says Kristine Renee Farley,
co-coordinator of MayDay Film Festival. “We want the festival to be fun and
accessible, not stuffy and pretentious, which is how most people view
festivals.”

The festival will take place in Forums 1,2, and 3 in the Forum Wing of the Byron C. Wright Administration Building at USI beginning at 10:00am. Free parking is available on campus. Each film will be screened once on 2 screens at different times and Victor Miller's workshop will take place twice during the screenings. For a program of events, find MayDay Film Festival on Facebook at facebook.com/MayDayFilmFest

The films to be screened are considered "PG-13." It is the recommendation by festival coordinators that children under 13 not attend the screenings due to strong language and mature themes in most of the films.
