Donna the Worlds Oldest Hippo May Be Put to Sleep
It is a sad time at Mesker Park Zoon here in Evansville. Donna the Hippo, who has lived here in Evansville for about 50 years and is the oldest hippo in captivity, may be put down tomorrow due to poor health. She is 60 years old. Most hippos in the wild only live between 25 and 50 years – the oldest known hippo in history was one in Germany who died at the age of 61.
I would love to see Donna become a world record holder but it does not look like that is going to happen. If you have any memories of Donna please feel free to leave them below .
