I don't want this to be a "Back in my day, I use to walk X amount of miles in the snow to school" post, but lately, it seems like local schools are being pretty generous with snow days. This is inspired by yet another day of school being closed due to snow.

There have been several snow days this school year that have definitely been warranted but today's feels pretty bizarre. At first, it was just a two hour delay based on the time the snow was falling. This is perfectly acceptable. However, about an hour after announcing the delay, they went ahead and just shut it down for the day.

The snow has been done for almost two hours. I know the argument is that "Well the back roads are bad" and "Kids safety is the highest priority!" I'm not suggesting that the local school bus does stunts from Furious 7 but shouldn't bus technology have advanced to be able to drive in a slight dusting by now? If the rest of the city can manage to not slip and slide off the road, I think our buses should be able to do something. Heck, stick chains on the tires and let the kids pretend their bus is from Mad Max: Fury Road (have one of the band kids play guitar on the hood).
