The Mesker Park Zoo chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers' (AAZK) Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser is set for Friday, June 23rd, and for a limited time you can get advance tickets at a discounted price!

Proceeds from the annual event, set to take place at River City Recreation on Weinbach Avenue from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., go to help rhinoceros conservation around the world.

According to the World Wildlife Fund, rhinos have long been poached in the wild for their horns, rendering a few species extinct in certain regions including "a subspecies of the Javan rhino" which "was declared extinct in Vietnam in 2011." That same species is listed as Critically Endangered in other parts of Asia.

However, thanks to conservation efforts over time, other species such as the Indian Rhino, have seen their status raised from "Endangered" to "Vulnerable," while others like the Southern White Rhino and Black Rhino species in Africa have thrived.

In addition to a fun of bowling with friends and family, Bowling for Rhinos will also feature a silent auction which will include unique animal related items, gift certificates and more.

Tickets for Bowling for Rhinos are available now online for the discounted price of $12 for kids 10 and under, or $20 for adults. Ticket price includes bowling, shoe rental, event T-shirt, free soda and access to the auction.

If you can't attend, but would still like to help, monetary donations are also being accepted online.
