Over the weekend, Kid Rock placed himself into the Colin Kaepernick National Anthem protest discussion because...reasons?

During a concert in Boston, before singing the song "Born Free," Kid Rock decided to shout "F*** Colin Kaepernick" to the thousands of people who accidentally ended up at a Kid Rock concert. I get that everyone wants to say their piece (Kate Upton posted on Instagram about the protest), but was anyone really wondering what Kid Rock's political views were? If you assumed Kid Rock's political affiliation was anything other than 'Murica, you're sadly mistaken. And if you actually care about Kid Rock's opinion, then I assume you weren't hugged enough.

I hate that I'm even talking about this. I wish I could say that Kid Rock shocked the world by saying "Go Colin Kaepernick" or "Black Lives Matter," but this is a dude who regularly defends the confederate flag. If he can defend a flag that's the house sigil of racism, Kaepernick can park his butt on the ground during a song. Also, Kid Rock has used the line "You can s*** my d***" on pretty much every album since 1998. Those two things aren't related, but I needed to point out that that's he's telling an alarming amount of people to do that activity.  For a staunch Republican, saying that might make Mike Pence side-eye you. I'm surprised he didn't someone work that line into his anti-Kaepernick sentiment.

If people claim that Colin Kaepernick started this protest as a way to make himself relevant in the eyes of the public, then what the actual blue hell is Kid Rock doing? Kid Rock hasn't had a new single released in a year and a half. The best things Kid Rock has ever done was have his song be in an awesome sequence in the pilot episode of The Shield and provide The Undertaker with theme music. Kid Rock is most relevant when a super wasted garbage couple get up and duet "Picture" during karaoke. Also, every time someone sings that song, a trailer gets its wheels.

I just don't know what Kid Rock is trying to do. Nobody was doubting that he loved America. It seems so strange to insert yourself into the most hot-button issue with nothing new or interesting to say. But because you did, I have to write 400 words referencing old wrestling themes and FX shows. But I get it, you want people to know how much you love the National Anthem. And now we do. You are truly a visionary. As a wise man once said: "Bawitdaba da bang da bang diggy diggy diggy, shake the boogie said up jump the boogie." Those are all words we can live by. Keep up whatever "work" you're doing.
