Netflix Daredevil Review

Daredevil premiered back in 2015 on Netflix and immediately established itself as an alternative to friendlier superhero shows on TV. Because Netflix didn't restrict the content, the show was able to be darker and grittier. If you were worried that this would be anything like the 2003 Ben Affleck movie, within the first few minutes of the Netflix series, those fears were quickly put to rest.

The show follows Matt Murdock, an attorney in Hell's Kitchen, who also happens to be blind. His blindness was caused by an accident he suffered as a child. Although the chemicals that splashed in his eyes rendered him blind, they also heightened his other senses. That leads him to become a masked vigilante called "Daredevil." The show is only as good as it's villain and Wilson Fisk, The Kingpin, is a perfect villain to take on Daredevil.

In season 2, Daredevil comes face to face with Frank Castle aka The Punisher. Jon Bernthal as the Punisher is a fantastic portrayal that actually has led to him playing the character in his own Netflix spinoff, set for release this fall. The second half of that season deals with Elektra and a mystical order of a group called The Hand. That wasn't quite as compelling as The Punisher stuff, but it's still worth watching.

If for some reason you've been sleeping on Daredevil, now is the perfect time to catch up on it (and the other Marvel Netflix shows) before the upcoming team-up show The Defenders. This weekend, you should employ the help of the "Avocado's" at Law from Hell's Kitchen.
