Green Day's American Idiot was one of the most influential concept albums of the mid-2000's. It's so influential that it inspired a Broadway musical. That is what will be on display this weekend at the D'Alto Studio of Performing Arts. The official synopsis of the show is as follows:

Johnny, Tunny and Will struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. When the three disgruntled men flee the constraints of their hometown for the thrills of city life, their paths are quickly estranged when Tunny enters the armed forces, Will is called back home to attend to familial responsibilities, and Johnny's attention becomes divided by a seductive love interest and a hazardous new friendship. An energy-fueled rock opera, American Idiot, features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day's groundbreaking album to execute the story line.

The show contains several elements of protest and civil unrest. Given the current state of things in the US, this show could not be happening at a better time. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19 at 7:30pm with a matinee on Sunday, November 20 at 2:30 pm
Adult tickets are $12 while Student tickets are $10. The show is
Rated R. Restricted, with no one under 17 admitted without an accompanying parent or guardian. Tickets are now available online at daltoarts.com or by calling D'Alto Studio at 812-402-4166.
