Why is it that every Pinterest project I attempt, it quickly turns into a nightmare?

My Fiance and I recently moved in together and we are slowly, but surely, attempting to remodel/redecorate our home. Me, being a girl, the redecorating part was what I was looking forward to the most. I had seen all sorts of picture frame collages on Pinterest but nothing really laid out the whole process for me. I knew I didn't want it to be a perfect rectangle or square - that would have looked too planned to me, if that makes sense. So I couldn't find any layouts that I liked or anything that gave me some sort of guide on what size frames to buy (in english.) So I essentially just went out, bought completely random frames, and started my own little puzzle. I also bought a couple of other little items that represented us, like a firefighter emblem and an 'O' for what will eventually be the first letter of both of our last names. It took me forever to come up with a layout that worked, but this is what I finally came up with...

I've heard of people placing paper cut outs on the wall to mark where to hang your actual frames, so you know you are getting it right the first time, but I decided I didn't want to invest that much time into it. I figured I'd just wing it. This was probably not a good Idea, but I managed. It's not perfect by any means, & there may or may not be a few holes that those frames are covering, but I like how it turned out a lot. Hanging them in the perfect spot was a struggle, but I did my best. I know at a glance, it looks pretty simple, but for some reason, this turned out to be a way more difficult process than I ever imagined. First of all, frames are pretty expensive. Then I had to make sure they all matched, and that there were enough of one specific style of frame and a verity of sizes. & piecing them together was a nightmare. For anyone interested, the frames I used are from Target. They are simple, and there are several choices on sizes. I'll eventually keep adding on as I find things, but for now, I'm over this little project. I'm sure I'll have a new one next week though.
