As someone who does a majority of the family grocery shopping at Schnucks, the news of hackers stealing "thousands" of credit card numbers certainly caught my attention.

14 News reports authorities are currently investigating how the breach was made. According to the Southeast Missourian, the St. Louis-based chain of stores first became aware of unauthorized transactions on customers cards March 15th and that while the hacking seems to only have affected customers who have shopped a stores in the St. Louis area, they are investigating "company-wide" which would obviously include the four locations in Evansville, and the company's location in Newburgh.

While authorities have not yet announced any incidents outside St. Louis, if you've recently shopped at an Evansville-area Schnuck's, a quick peek at your bank account from time to time to be sure there aren't any out of place purchases couldn't hurt.
