Last night comedian Patrice O'Neal lost his very public battle with diabetes.  He had been in the hospital over the past month, and while friends and fans of his had been hoping for a recovery, his death did not come as a total shock.

The comedian had often dealt with weight issues and his diabetes.  He was over 300 lbs and only 41 years old when he died yesterday.

O'Neal was best known for his Comedy Central stand-up specials and his impact on their celebrity "Roasts."  I, however, remember Patrice mostly for his impact on radio which I always found inspiring.  His appearances on Philadelphia and New York radio shows that I grew up listening to were always memorable, poignant, and funny.

Expect Comedy Central to rerun many of his stand-up specials over the next few days.  Patrice will be missed very much by this radio DJ who found his radio approach to be very inspiring...
