Chicago Police: Man Makes False Assault Report for Oprah Tickets

14 News.com reports that a Canadian man and his wife had flown to Chicago in an attempt to be in the audience for one of the final tapings of The Oprah Winfrey Show. However, when they arrived they discovered that tickets were sold out. That’s when they took matters into their own hands.

According to police reports, Robert Spearing scuffed up his hands and cut his own forehead in an attempt to appear as if he had been mugged. He then falsely reported that he had been assaulted and his Oprah tickets had been stolen.

After rethinking his actions, Spearing fessed up and told police the story was not true. He now faces felony disorderly conduct charges for filing a false police report.

Hopefully his cell mate is an Oprah fan as well so he can at least enjoy the final shows from the comfort of jail…what an idiot.
