The top story of the day is the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that rocked Japan overnight and has left hundreds dead. As many of us in the tri-state know, we sit on two major fault lines that people have said for years are due up for a major event. Can what happen in Japan speed up the process?

Since I know absolutely nothing about what goes on underground, I went searching for someone who did. That someone is Dr. Joseph DiPietro, Professor of Geology at USI.
