Birdies for Backpacks is a community golf scramble sponsored by Newburgh UMC to support our local children in need of food for the weekend. During the week, these children receive free/reduced meals and this program allows those students to take home a sack full of meals to meet their needs until Monday morning. All monies donated will go directly to the Tri-State Food Bank for WCSC children. Tri-State assembles the backpacks and NUMC delivers to the schools every Friday afternoon. Dozens of children have participated from Sharon Elementary, CSMS, & CHS. The church is hoping to expand to even more schools throughout Warrick County as the funds allow because the demand is great!
