Let's face it, summer is officially here and what that means is crazy Indiana weather phenomena and soul-crushing heat. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who love getting sunburnt to a crisp and sweating in places that makes it look you had a accident (Swamp Butt is the term I would use). Well, for those that want to keep cool there are a number of places in Evansville to help cool you down during the summertime heat.

Swonder Ice Arena

The coolest of all cool places to be in Evansville would no doubt be Swonder Ice Arena. Nothing says beating the sweltering 90+ degree heat like skating around an ice rink with your winter clothes on. If you feel like partaking in this ultimate cool down, Swonder Ice Arena offers public skating at various times throughout the week.

Go See A Movie

Harry Potter

The great thing about Evansville is that there is a movie theater close by no matter where you are in the city. On the Eastside, Northside or Southside; there's plenty of Showplace Cinemas locations to choose from. On the Westside, there's AMC Theaters. Plus, with it being the summer, there's a number of blockbusters being released in a short time. Cars 2: World Grand Prix, Transformers 3, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 all make my shortlist of flicks to see this summer while beating the heat!

Who doesn't love ice cream? There are a multitude of flavors to choose from and thankfully, a multitude of locations all within Evansville to get some ice cream. Evansville stalwart Lic's Deli and Ice Cream comes to mind and always has ice cream specials that you can only get for a short time. Beside's Lic's, there's plenty of Dairy Queen locations if Blizzards are more your thing. If ice cream creations of your own design is what you crave, there a pair of Cold Stone Creamery locations if you are a budding ice cream artist. Jeanne's Gelato & More is the only place in Evansville that offers Gelato that I know. Don't know what Gelato is? Gelato is:

"an ancient Italian frozen dessert, a far more recent variant of which is ice cream. As such, gelato is made with some of the same ingredients as most other frozen dairy desserts. Milk, cream, various sugars, flavoring including fruit and nut purees are the main ingredients."

Thank you Wikipedia for that! Also, let's face it, your favorite grocer has your go to, cool down treat of the summer!
