With a lot of excitement surrounding the Starbucks coming to downtown Evansville, I'd like to highlight some amazing local options that are already available downtown. These are all locally owned and really make a great cup of coffee.

One of my personal favorites, Wired Coffee House offers a wide variety of classic favorites and house specialty flavors. They also have a rotating menu of new coffees so if you are feeling adventurous, there is always something new to try.

Penny Lane, located in the arts district, is one of the most infamous local businesses that Evansville has to offer, I mean, former President Bill Clinton even had to stop in and see what it was all about. The Raspberry Beret is my personal favorite and you should also love it.

You might be confused by Piece of Cake's inclusion on this list, but they are much more than just cakes and baked goods (which are fabulous). They also have a wide variety of coffees to choose from. If you haven't stopped in in a while, you might want to poke back in and try some of their great coffee!

River City has amazing coffee, an amazing staff, and a local pride that is rarely seen in Evansville business. Not only can you grab a great cup of coffee, but you can also browse vintage records and locally crafted goods. You'll find something you like at River City.

I may be a bit biased on this one, but I love River Kitty Cat Cafe because it combines my love of cats with my love of coffee. Not only can you get some delicious coffee, but you can drink it in the presence of cats! Cats that you can adopt if you see fit! It's a puuuurrrrrfect match (I'm sorry).

Those are some of the great places to get coffee in downtown Evansville. And that's not to say you can't enjoy your favorites from Starbucks time to time, but don't forget about our wonderful and locally-owned brethren.
