The Weeknd was recently cooking up something out in Cali. The Canadian crooner was spotted last week, with video surfacing Thursday (March 22), out in the small town of Taft, Calif. shooting a new music video.

TMZ spies spotted Abel being tracked by a camera crew as he slowly walked down the street in what looks to be one scene. In another scene that looks like it was taped at night, Weeknd appears to hover above the street on a white device. He's later seen waving to fans as he vacates the premises.

It is unclear why the pop star chose the quiet town of Taft, population 9,327, to film his video, but the location on the foothills of the San Joaquin Valley has seen its fair share of celebs. Several films have been shot in the city.

In other Weeknd-related news, the singer is slated to headline the upcoming 2018 Coachella Festival in California along with Eminem and Beyoncé next month.

The famed showcase is set to be another can't-miss event with a stacked lineup of Migos, Cardi B, French Montana, 6lack, Kamaiyah, DeJ Loaf, Princess Nokia, Noname, Jidenna, Westside Gunn, Conway, Vince Staples, Kyle, Belly, Tyler, The Creator, Post Malone, Blackbear, Brockhampton, WizKid and Flatbush Zombies.

Maybe Abel will break out the video he was filming, or the new track, during his set.
