Spring and summer are usually the peak season for people coming to your door to sell you a home security system. Your BBB®, the FTC, and states Attorneys General provide precautionary tips when considering the purchase of a home security system. Here are some indications that sales offers may be fraudulent:

*You may be told that the offer is time sensitive and that in order to get the free equipment, you need to sign up NOW! If you’re not careful, you could be signing a long-term contract, and you could save costs if you take the time to do a little shopping around.

*Some “pushy” sales representatives may try to pressure their way into your home; resist them. If they do get inside, and if you don’t want their system, it’s okay to tell them to leave. If they refuse, call the police.
