When my kids were babies, there wasn't anything really out of the ordinary that made them stop crying. Generally a pacifier or a favorite stuffed animal took care of the issue. When it was time for a nap or to sleep for the night, we would run a "white noise" machine that attached to the side of the crib and looked like an aquarium.

Of course as any parent knows, that regular routine doesn't always work and you have to come up with something unique to soothe a cranky child. And as any parent knows, sometimes that "thing" can be the last thing you'd expect, like the theme song to Star Wars as this mom discovered.
