In high school, there was nothing I loved more than the stage. I would spend all of my time working on lines, auditions, sets, anything that revolved around the theater. I was bit by the bug and I never wanted anything more than to be the last person to bow at the curtain call
The journey of losing weight can be the most trying journey a person can make. It takes commitment, strength, faith, time, and so much courage and patience.
One Evansville woman decided to take the first step of that journey at the beginning of 2013, and with the support of her husband, children, and friends, made a huge difference in her life and has become an inspiration to many, including me.
My little sister had her first child this past Thursday, July 10th. We all held our phones up and took joyous pictures of each of us snuggling the little sweet fresh precious life and cried tears of joy together that we would have a new dear baby to love. I was especially happy because this one was not mine.
Because my mom is a teacher, I grew up knowing the importance of education and the gift I was being given by each one of my teachers. Even though I did not mesh well with a couple of them, I knew that I needed to make sure that I could continue my education after high school and beyond
I love to make lists. I make lists every day at work to make sure that I follow through on all of my tasks, I make lists of goals when cleaning the house (my husband dreads these days), and it is even rubbing off on my five year old daughter
Like many women, I have always struggled with my weight; therefore, I also struggled with my self-image. I stopped wearing shorts in the 5th grade because I hated my legs, and it all started from there.
When I was younger and way before my “big girl life” took over, I used to spend countless hours looking at pictures of wedding gowns and planning my dream wedding. I had it all picked out: an October wedding, I would wear a lace dress, carry sunflowers down the aisle, have a guitar playing as I floated down the aisle locking arms with both of my parents.
One day, while watching a remarkable presentation with my students given by a man who traveled the world taking pictures of animals with National Geographic, a student raised his hand and asked the man, “If you have all of this money, why live here?” The presenter politely smiled and simply answered, “You can travel around the world and see all of these exciting places, but Evansville is simply home.”
