The Adorable Nightmare Of The 90s Is Alive In ‘The Bloody Best Of Lenore’ [Preview]
Lenore, the "cute little dead girl" who starred in a bunch of hilariously gory and humorously horrific indie comics by Roman Dirge back in the '90s and early 2000s, has clawed her way out of the ground and back into print in The Bloody Best of Lenore, a new hardcover collection from Titan Comics to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the character.
‘Justice League Action’ Premiere Date Will Make Your Holiday Season More Heroic
Justice League Action, the new animated Cartoon Network series featuring all your DC Comics favorites, premieres on December 16 with a special event. “Shazam Slam” is a four-part epic featuring Black Adam, Shazam, and Batman turning into a bat-monster. Sean Astin voices Shazam, by which I assume they mean the original Captain Marvel, since Astin is much better suited for a hero with the spirit of a child, than for a wise old wizard. In fact, Carl Reiner is credited as the Wizard, which probably means the character we used to call Shazam, since the old Justice Society villain the Wizard would be a stranger choice.
Marvel Reveals Covers for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Comics Adaptation
On June 22, Marvel releases the first issue in a five-part comics version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, adapted by Chuck Wendig, with art by Luke Ross, and the publisher has released a range of variant covers by some of its biggest marquee names.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens #1 has a gorgeous cover by Esad Ribic, which unlike the toy lines will leave you with no doubt who the protagonist of this story is. There's also an equally beautiful and even more Rey-centric cover by Joe Quesada, and a movie poster-esque design by Phil Noto. The press release promises a variant by John Cassaday, but that's not included in the preview, sadly. There's also a movie poster variant, and sketch versions of the Ribic and Quesada covers.
Parties Weren’t Meant to Last: Artists Pay Tribute to Prince
The world was stunned last Thursday by the unexpected death of Prince Rogers Nelson, known to the world simply as Prince. Prince was a legendary musician, whose records crossed all boundaries of style and genre. He was widely considered one of the best guitarists who ever lived. He was equally unparalleled as a singer, songwriter, and live performer.
But he was also a visual icon. In his music videos, live concerts, and movies like Purple Rain, his flair for style and unique androgynous look caught the eye of fans regardless of gender or sexuality. Upon his death, people praised his music of course, but there were also discussions about him as a role model who showed that there was no right way to be a man. Prince was an inspiration to everyone who refused to be bound in by labels and social roles.
