Dave Westrich

I grew up in Cincinnati, beginning my radio career at my high school radio station, WNSD. I landed in Evansville in 1980.  Throughout the 80's and early 90's, I learned the ropes of radio in several different positions on WGBF AM and WKDQ.  My radio hiatus came in spring of '92 when I attended U.S.I. to become an educator.  I acquired my B.S. and began teaching shortly thereafter.  Although I had a great time with the kids in North Spencer, I made the decision to return to the airwaves in June of 2011.  Now I'm spending the afternoons with you! I have an absolutely wonderful wife, Jenny (we met at the very first Mike Harvey sock hop in 1990),  two awesome kids, and some little critters to keep us all company.

A number of scams have been victimizing Tri-State residents of late.  I, personally, have received the phone calls from Florida, and even from myself (how is that possible?!) about my Mastercard (which I don't even have!).  Now Vectren is warning us about another scam that has surfaced.  It seems that "someone" is making phone calls to Vectren customers claiming to be a representative of the company and wanting an immediate payment or the service to their home or business will be disconnected.

Spring Forward Saturday Night for Daylight Savings Time [Poll]

It's that time again (tick, tock, tick, tock) when we "spring forward" for daylight savings time!  Saturday night before you go to bed, move all the clocks ahead one hour so that you're not running behind all day Sunday.  Of course, there's bound to be at least one clock that you'll forget to change, which you'll notice in the morning and then panic over before you realize that you forgot to reset it - LOL!  So how did all this nonsense begin, anyway?

Don Mattingly in Evansville This Weekend for the “Way” and Garvin Park Monument Dedications

A month ago I wrote a blog about the name change coming for the street running from N. Main St. into Garvin Park.  Bosse Field's official address changes, too.  Bosse Field is now located at 23 Don Mattingly Way.  That was the number on Don's New York Yankees uniform.  Additionally, Garvin Park's address is now 45 Don Mattingly Way.  This Saturday, Don Mattingly himself will be in Evansville for the dedication of the street name change and a monument placed inside Garvin Park in his honor.
