Just when it feels like the world is on the brink of apocalypse, one kind soul in Evansville reminds us all that good people still exist in this often ugly world.

According to a post on the Evansville-Vanderburgh County School Corporation's Facebook page Thursday, an anonymous donor donated enough money to cover the cost of every overdue lunch fee in the entire Central High School district.

The Central District includes Central High School on First Avenue, Highland and Stringtown Elementary, as well as Cedar Hall, Lincoln, and Thompkins. While I couldn't find the combined number of students enrolled at those schools, and realizing not all of them have overdue lunch fees, I'll assume the donation was a hefty amount of cash.

The EVSC didn't release the exact amount, but really, that doesn't matter. The fact that someone with the money took it upon themselves, unprovoked, to help those less fortunate is awesome!

To whoever you are, thank you for reminding the rest of us that despite what we see on TV and online, there are still everyday people out there looking to make the world a better place.
