‘A Pep Talk From Kid President’ Offers a Humorous Reminder That We Control Our Destiny [VIDEO]

Remember the old show, Kids Say the Darndest Things? Sometimes, those "darndest things" can make a ton of sense.

I finally took a few minutes to watch, 'A Pep Talk From Kid President' after seeing several friends share on their Facebook page. It's a cute video featuring a 9-year old who goes by the name, Kid President, in a three piece suit offering encouragement to not just kids or adults, but people in general. Take a look:

One of the great things about the mind of a child is its simplistic view of the world. It has yet to grow the filter (for lack of a better word) that we adults develop over time that complicates everything. Let's call it the "Real World Filter". You know the one I'm talking about, it's the one that shoots down any simple suggestion because "that's not how the real world works."

Mine even kicked in after Kid President. That's right, after watching what is supposed to be an inspirational pep talk about everyone being on the same team and taking charge to stop the world from being boring, my first instinct was to write it off as nothing more than a fantasy view of the world.

Would it be nice if we all just got along? Of course it would, imagine the things we could accomplish if we took all the energy we spend calling each other liberal tree-huggers, or conservative nut jobs, and applied it to solving issues that affect us all. Would we agree on everything? Of course not, that would be boring. But if we were at least willing to be open to each other's thoughts and understand that some compromise would be needed to meet the greater good, imagine how much different the world would be.

So why don't we just get along? Because misery loves company, that's why. Unfortunately, it's easier to moan and complain than it is to go against the grain and try to change people's opinions. When you sit around with friends and family who are all complaining about this, that, and the other, you don't want to be the lone person stating a case for the opposing side. We humans want to be loved and if anything, even something as simple as voicing your opinion, could potentially throw a wrench into the works, we're more content to just go with flow and either not say anything, or agree with the majority in an effort to fit in. I'm just as guilty as the next guy when it comes to that.

I'm not saying we can't vent from time to time. Good Lord, you need to every once in a while or your head will pop. But why can't we also at least be willing to listen to the other side of the argument? Who knows, the opposing side might have something you agree with, or, God forbid, you might actually learn something.
