Evansville is a pretty great place, and if you can't see that you aren't looking hard enough.  I know Evansville gets a lot of flack, but it really is a great place to live! Here's my list of top 5 things people in Evansville should STOP complaining about!

    Traffic

Okay I get it, traffic can totally be lame, and the Lloyd can be the most frustrating stoplight-filled thing to navigate, and don't even get me started on those "left laners!"  But I can promise you those left laners are everywhere, not just Evansville.  Also have you ever driven through Indy or Nashville during rush hour?  I'll take Evansville's rush hour over theirs any day!

    "There's nothing to do"

Have you ever driven down Franklin street?!  There's a TON of stuff to do in Evansville, and if you can't find it, you aren't looking hard enough! There's historic Bosse Field, catch an Otters game, CMOE, the museum downtown, there's always stuff going on down on Main Street downtown, there's farmers markets, a TON of local businesses that are popping up to go check out, we have a ton of local parks too!  There's those new places where you paint and drink wine, you literally have an excuse to get drunk and make crafts, what more could you want?!

    The internet

Okay this could go for anywhere, but it's getting out of control! I keep seeing people on Facebook talking about how they were written badly about on Topix, and I'm just like if you're hanging out with the kind of people who have nothing better to do than to post to a forum, then you're hanging out with the wrong kind of people...

    East Side VS West Side

We've gotta drop this East side VS West side war we've got going on.  We're all one city, and if we became two, then we'd just have the west side, and the east side of the west side, and the west side of the east side, and I'm already getting a headache.  Can't we just agree that all sides of Evansville are great?  And stop calling each other cake eaters. What's so wrong with eating cake?  Cake is delicious, and everyone should enjoy it!

    Evansville is Miserable

We've got to stop harping on the fact that Evansville one time made a list saying it was the most miserable city in America.  For one, was that list even scientific?  And for two, complaining isn't going to do anything.  If you don't like something, get out and do something to change it. Yes, every place has it's own faults, but ultimately your happiness doesn't depend on the city you live in, it depends on your attitude. Evansville is a great place with a ton of opportunity, and if we don't take pride in our hometown, how can we expect anyone else to?
