Scouts from all over the Tri-State will descend on Wright Motors Saturday morning for the chance to start their engines push their way to victory in the annual Pinewood Derby.

I never participated in a Pinewood Derby as a kid (insert sad face emoticon, or sad trombone sound effect here). The main reason being that I was never a Cub Scout. I was a Tiger Cub in Second Grade, then sat out a few years before joining Boy Scout Troop 399 based out of Sacred Heart in Evansville.

But enough about me, let's get into the nuts and bolts (or wood and wheels) of Saturday's event. Hosted by the Buffalo Trace Council, over 150 Scouts, who have been working diligently on crafting their derby cars, will be in attendance at Wright Select Motors on the Division Street Autoplaza to see if the fruits of their labor will pay off with a win.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the opportunity to take photos and video at 9:30. Races will begin shortly thereafter.

Wright Select will be grilling lunch for participants and spectators.
