12 Fake Band Names You Can Totally Steal

Need a sweet name for your garage band to put you over the top? You've come to ~~the right~~ a place!

When radio people aren't on the air, we can be some of the most foul-mouthed, offensive people in existence; saying outlandish things just to get a laugh, or a gasp, out of our fellow co-workers. Often times when telling a story or poking fun at something, we like to come up with odd metaphors or phrases as the punchline to whatever we're describing. Sometimes these metaphors, phrases, or whatever you want to call them sound like really good band names. This leads to someone falsely commenting that they really enjoyed that fake band on the 2002 Lollapalooza, or how their sophomore album defined their high school years (again, it's funny to us because we're children).

Some time ago, I decided to start keeping track of these fake names in my phone, not knowing what or if I would ever do anything with them. So far, I've only used it to bring people not in on the gag up to speed with previous entries, but after compiling a list of 23 names and counting, I thought I would unleash a few upon the world and offer them up to aspiring musicians looking for a moniker that will provide them an identity for which to build a career.

Of the 23 names currently jotted down, 10 to 12 of them either have a curse word in them, or feature some sort of vile reference that could land me on an episode of Dateline NBC, so I'm leaving them out.

I have personally Googled each name on the list below to verify there are no bands currently using them, which I'm happy to report, there are none. So feel free to steal away! All I ask is a tiny credit in the liner notes of your album.

Each has a story behind it, some I remember, some I don't.
