Today in the studio, we were talking about our Thanksgiving plans. We all figure that most people celebrate just like the Norman Rockwell family but the truth is, a lot of us don't. In fact, there are a LOT of different things you can do on your day off!

1. Eat Pizza and Watch Christmas Movies

Some families like to gather 'round a crowded table arguing about politics and who burnt the turkey.  Other families order pizza for delivery and watch a marathon of Christmas movies!  Here is a short list of can't-miss movies for your marathon:

  • Planes, Trains & Automobiles (Technically a Thanksgiving movie!)
  • Home Alone
  • Elf
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • The Santa Clause

2. Go on Vacation

I have family that schedules a trip out of town every Thanksgiving. It's time off work and school and the time of year that we could all use a break! And, lots of big cities host a holiday parade! Some places that are close enough to drive to but are really fun are: St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Nashville.

3. Volunteer

Most food banks will do their Thanksgiving meals before Thanksgiving but there's still work to be done! Contact your local animal shelter, homeless shelter, or really any charity that might need some busy work done.

4. Decorate for Christmas

Just skip Thanksgiving and go straight for the big holiday.

5. Prank Your Friends Who are Enjoying a Nice Thanksgiving Nap

A little TP goes a long way, is all I'm saying...

6. Go Out for Chinese Food

In A Christmas Story the family ends up at a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner after their traditional turkey dinner is hijacked by the neighbors' dogs. Who says you can't have some Chinese duck for Thanksgiving?

7. Sleep

Who couldn't use a few ZZZs? Keep spidey senses on for pranksers tho.

 8. Go on a Hike/Camping

This is a great way to get some peace and perspective.

9. Shop Online

We all have to get holiday shopping done. So, take the extra time off to make it happen. Your Christmas season will be less stressful and you can skip the craziness of Black Friday.

10. Make Something

You can make yourself a meal, make a craft, make someone's day by calling them to chat, or make a baby. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
