Are you a wrestling fan?  When you hear Pro Wrestling, do you think “it’s fake wrasslin,” or do you think of crowds of hillbillies with overalls and mouths only partially full of teeth? Well, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong.  It's not old dirty fat guys slapping bodies against one another, but so much more.  If you hear pro wrestling and think of professional athletes putting on an awesome performance, you are probably a fan. And if you are a fan, I hope you have also enjoyed The Enhancement Talent with The Rob of 106.1 KISSFM and Eric Cornish of WKDQ on Mondays and Thursdays, right here on 1061evansville.com (cheap pop). However, I’d like to see if you agree with me as I try to change the minds of the disbelievers and give you the five best reasons you should be watching and loving professional wrestling.

5. You never know when you may be watching a future action star - In 1997 I met a wrestler named Rocky Maivia who went on to become Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. No matter what he does now, I can say I have met him (Yes, that is me in the photo below). Most Recently, Dave "Batista" Bautista has made his mark in the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy.  So who knows where the next star comes from?  It's possible you could be watching him or her in the current pool of superstars.

4. No off season - Wrestlers are professional athletes that have very passionate fans. It's not fake, it's 'pre-determined', so when you watch them in what they do, their bodies are actually taking that punishment with no scheduled recovery time.  I'm a huge NFL football fan, but every year the season ends and you have to wait months for it to come back. Wrestling is there for you every week all year long.

3. Hot, strong women (or men for you ladies) - You get to be adolescent minded when you see these unreal men or women perform in outfits that are just enough to cover their cash and prizes, but they are much more than that. They are smart, beautiful, and have physical ability that puts anything I do to shame. All that action with the addition of beautiful women or handsome men makes it that much better.

2. Storylines - This is what I call a male soap opera. Its characters allow you to become invested fairly easily. They use stories that stretch well beyond the squared circle and help progress their show. Yes, sometimes their stories go a little too far, but I also remember seeing Marlena Evans get possessed and turn into a panther on Days of our Lives in the 1990's. So even with some outlandish stories, they still create a story with which you can easily get involved.

1. Stunts - Over the course of my almost 30 years of fandom, I have seen men do some amazing and death defying stunts. Things that the human body should not be able to do and sometimes they don’t, as in Sid's broken leg, Stone Cold's stinger, Sabu's broken neck and let's never forget Owen Hart. Sometimes they pull off feats that just leave you in awe! The real jump-out-of-your-seats or my-heart-just-cringed moments come in the form of jumping and falling from ladders, cages, or set display. Moments that shock and stay with you for years. If you're not watching, you have no idea what you're missing; trust me!
